Sensei Terry Lyon has devoted most of his life to the practice and teaching of Karate, specifically in the style of
Traditional Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate. Over the past thirty years he has trained in Japan and most parts of Asia. He was graded to 3rd Dan by
Sensei Morio Higaonna in New Zealand in 1987. Later that year he joined good friend and instructor
Sensei Graham Ravey (now 6th Dan) in starting the Traditional Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate Do Association (TOGKA). The association was formed to preserve the unchanged origins of this style of Karate as a
traditional martial art. Sensei Lyon was graded to the rank of 5th Dan by Sensei Graham Ravey in 2004.
There are many modern day martial arts masters in the world today. Pick up any martial arts magazine or book these days and you'll read a story by a Grand Master of 8th, 9th, or 10th Dan in some style no-one ever heard of.
