Martial Arts Weapons: Shinai

The Shinai is a bamboo sword used in the Japanese Martial Art of Kendo, in place of the metal sword. The Shinai is made from four strips of bamboo bound together with leather. Picture shows Sensei Terry Lyon holding a Shinai.
